On May 20th, just 2 years ago I was loading up 3 giant bags to head to Arlanda airport in Stockholm, Sweden where I was happily ending my 1.5 year stint living in a cold land that I never belonged in. My time in Sweden was spent learning how high maintenance I can be, not realizing that high maintenance meant requiring a bathroom be INSIDE of my hotel room while traveling, expecting someone to not only bag my groceries but not charge me for the bags and longing for a pedicure where a Vietnamese woman says, "Pick a color".
I put my high maintenance ass on a plane and moved back to New York City, looking forward to feeling the power of a real city again. A city with 1 million people is not a city, it is a town. Tell that to those that live in a country with just 9 million blondes. The Big Apple? Now that is a city. I was greeted at the airport by my good friend and old roomie, Brian (aka Brainy). He was always the type of guy to go out of his way to help me out. He escorted me and all my luggage back to my new pad in TriBeCa, I showered and we headed out to eat and to a party. I was back!
Brian, the guy who had been one of my best friends for 2 years prior was always someone I had mad chemistry with but a relationship was really not in our cards. I was hooked up with a Swedish meatball and he was playing the field in NYC. 7 days after my arrival, we shared a kiss. 2 whirlwind years later, I am blogging on my couch in Phoenix, AZ trying not to disturb my lovely husband as he sleeps upstairs (yes, Brian), my growing pregnant belly serves as a handy desk to rest my laptop on and the sweetest yellow Lab puppy rests soundly at my feet.
I anticipate a new house in which we move into next month, I now think about gas prices as I drive a car again, I attend birthing classes to learn what to expect in L&D and I accumulate baby furniture and nursery decorations as I try really hard to imagine changing my daughter's stinky diapers in just 2 short months.
Brian and I have come a long way since that summer 2 years ago where we spent a good $6000 on doing nothing but eating out and finding the best sangria in the city, not to mention the best iced coffee. Thank you deli on Chambers and Church, I am forever longing for your simple $1.50 iced coffee where all I have to do is take the paper off the straw and enjoy.
My life is good. Welcome to the World o' Cookie!

Two more months! Where does the time go? So it's a girl! Got any names picked out?
Yep, a girl! My mom is thrilled as she is convinced this is my payback. Name ideas but we won't decide until we meet her.
