Working Mother

So this week begins another new chapter in my life, that of a working mother. The last time I sat at my desk I was hugely pregnant. I had never been in the Phoenix office not pregnant. Now, 3.5 months later, I return not pregnant but a mama.

It is very strange to go from one extreme to the other. For the last 3.5 months I have had the freedom to travel, run errands, watch tv (all with my sweet baby of course!) and not even think about work. The same paycheck kept landing in my account every 2 weeks and it was fantastic.
Ava and I bonded, I learned everything about her. I know how she likes to be held, how she likes to eat, sleep, take a bath, etc.

At times I thought it would be nice to go to work and have that balance. If anything what a great excuse to shower and wear presentable clothing. Those thoughts came to a screeching halt when I went into the office for the first time. Even though it is my mom who watches her during the day I still hated to think that she is now forced into a different routine too.

I tried to work out how I could stay at home, I took 45 seconds to calculate what I spend in car payments, gas, childcare, etc. now that I am a working mother vs staying home and eliminating the 2nd car, etc. I secretly hoped I would be left with 10 bucks, instead I still had enough to cover our entire mortgage. Tough to justify that one.

Now I continue to dream about starting my own event planning business as that is what I have wanted to do for probably over 10 years. It would mean more time at home and also not working in the corporate world I am in today. I work so much harder as a business owner too. I am going to get the wheels in motion. I have both corporate and social event planning experience in Sweden, NYC and AZ. I will start slow by networking my pants off. Well not really, though that would probably get some business depending on who is doing the hiring.

I thought we agreed no removal of clothing to earn money? I'd work for you, I'm cheap also.
