Our 1st Night

We did it! We are grown ups! Finally we closed on our new home.
We had our first night in the new house a few days ago. We were prepared to take a few steps backward with Violet and her house training as this is a new place for her and she doesn't know where the door is to go out, etc.

Violet surprised the hell out of us with no accidents at all to speak of. She goes right to the back door and waits until we let her out, goes outside and does her business and is happy as can be. The carpets might stand a chance after all! Unless, we get a crazy monsoon storm like we did on our first night. Arizona is not exactly a rainy place but every summer we look forward to our night time monsoon storms filled with rain, thunder and lightening. Since our yard is 100% dirt right now it became 100% mud during the rain. What we know about Violet is she loves water and she apparently love digging. As she got hard at work digging us a family pool (we told her it might be a while before we get one), she also became a junkyard mud doggy.

Imagine Violet's muddy self on our new carpets. I couldn't do it without feeling nauseous. Needless to say, Miss Violet christened our shower as us caretakers of her new home pampered her with a head to tail washing.

You might think this story is over but it's ready to begin...(bbgggbggbbggggbgggbgggbggg)...Beastie Boys anyone? Ahhh, give me a break it is 4am!

Anyway, Violet decides to be superstar doggy and not go pee/poop inside but we can't exactly let her run outside to go each time because then she comes back filthy and the carpet is done. We try to get her to go out on the patio on a leash. She's not having it. She is also not having going inside, she only wants to go in her yard. Normally a GREAT thing when her poor bladder isn't about to explode. She practiced some serious bladder control that night and ended up going outside on the leash like we wanted after a while.

P.S. I would be mortified if someone was writing on a blog at 4am about my bathroom habits. I am really glad Violet hasn't learned to type yet.

P.S.S. I might be a decent mum after all...during this monsoon storm Mr. Cookie walked to the gym in our neighborhood community center, did his marathon training and planned to walk home. When he left it was not raining, during his time there it started pouring and lightening was going nuts across the desert. What seemed like a very long time, I started to see visions of a crispy Cookie struck by lightening on the side of the road. I jumped in the car with Violet and we drove in the pouring rain looking for Mr. Cookie. I ran up to the gym and no one was there. All the while I am soaked and surrounded by lightening myself. I frantically drive back and we still don't see him. A second later he called and asked if I would pick him up as he casually tells me it's pretty wet outside.
Oh really? Hadn't noticed.

Nice use of the Beastie Boys. I'm with you on all of the soundtrack segways that enhance real life tales.

Congratulations on your new home. If I can come over and help unpack a box, let me know.
